Week 9 Oval Power Rankings Deep Dive

Week 9 Oval Power Rankings Deep Dive

With only 3 races left in the season for each series, lets see how each team is doing at the Week 9 break.

1 – NLR Legends – 143.347 (-25) –

Week 6 Power Rank – 2nd
Next Gen Standings – 1st
1987 Standings – 3rd
Legends Standings – 2nd
NLR Legends continues to show why consistency across all series is important, as they are the only team to be in the top 3 of all 3 series. They had 8 of their 9 drivers in the Playoff Series make it to the Playoffs, and OJ Alberga sits atop the Legends standings.

2 – Delusions of Grandeur – 151.956 (+69) UP 2

Week 6 Power Rank – 5th
Next Gen Standings – 2nd
1987 Standings – 2nd
Legends Standings – 7th
After back to back strong weeks, including coming out on top in Week 9, DoG has surged to 2nd in the Power Rankings. The main contributor of the gap to NLR is that their Legends series team currently sits in 7th out of 8 teams. If DoG can patch up that hole though then watch out because we could be watching as they make a run up the standings over the last 3 weeks.

3 – Low Fuel Racing – 156.815 (-38) –

Week 6 Power Rank – 3rd
Next Gen Standings – 3rd
1987 Standings – 6th
Legends Standings – 3rd
After a slow start to the season, the reigning champs have climbed their way back up to 2nd in the Overall standings. There is a lot of work to do to catch the leaders, they could really use a strong finish from their 1987 team who hasn’t had much luck this season. Just like Season 8 though they have the top 2 drivers in the Next Gen playoffs.

4 – The Brew Crew – 162.357 (-41) Down 2

Week 6 Power Rank – 1st
Next Gen Standings – 4th
1987 Standings – 1st
Legends Standings – 5th
The last 3 weeks has been tough on The Brew Crew’s Next Gen team, which usually is setting the pace for the rest of the league to try and chase. TBC is still setting the pace in the other Nascar series, so don’t expect this slide to continue.

5 – Lost City Racing – 169.451 (+55) UP 1

Week 6 Power Rank – 6th
Next Gen Standings – 7th
1987 Standings – 4th
Legends Standings – 4th
Lost City has shown good improvement over the last 3 weeks for a Rookie team. They have shown a lot of promise in the Legends series lately, but their most impressive series is the 1987 series where they sit 4th but only 79 points behind the series leader.

6 – Apex – 170.863 (-32) Down 1

Week 6 Power Rank – 4th
Next Gen Standings – 5th
1987 Standings – 5th
Legends Standings – 1st
Apex has had a rough season for such a prestigious team, often relying on their dominance of the Legends series to keep them in the hunt. However, having all 3 of their drivers miss the feature race after having only 1 driver miss it in the previous 8 weeks is tough to handle.

7 – Can-Am Racing – 215.172 (+29) –

Week 6 Power Rank – 7th
Next Gen Standings – 8th
1987 Standings – 8th
Legends Standings – 6th
Season 9 has been a tough one for Can-Am, which is a usually team that while they are lower in the standings they typically have a few drivers in contention for championships. Unfortunately while they have made some noise, it just hasn’t been enough.

8 – Desperado Racing – 215.495 (-16) –

Week 6 Power Rank – 8th
Next Gen Standings – 8th
1987 Standings – 6th
Legends Standings – 7th
Unfortunately the struggles continue for Desperado Racing, a team that came into Season 9 with a lot of expectations to take the next step and compete with the top teams. The Oval team will have to try and make some noise to close out the season while preparing for next season.
