Week 6 Road Series Deep Dive

Week 6 Road Series Deep Dive

By Rhett Sawyer

With the second quarter of the season in the books it’s time to take a look at how each series has taken shape

Road Rankings
1 – NLR Legends – 49.146 (+7) Up 1
Lotus 79 – 1st
Supercars – 1st

It’s pretty easy to see why NLR sits in the top spot halfway through the season since they are currently first in both series. It’s a bit of a surprise though that they are on top of the Lotus standings when they have yet to put together a good finish on a oval track, but on the road courses their drivers have finished in the top 5 spots 7 out of 9 times.

2 – Low Fuel Racing – 54.438 (+0) Down 1
Lotus 79 – 3rd
Supercars – 3rd

The story of the top 2 teams has been consistency, for Low Fuel Racing they have consistently been finishing in the top half every week and haven’t let many chances for points slip away. After picking up 2 of the 3 wins available in week 6 they look to be hitting their stride, can they keep this up over the next 3 weeks to be in striking position down the stretch?

3 – Delusions of Grandeur – 61.281 (-3) –
Lotus 79 – 2nd
Supercars – 5th

DoG put up their best week yet in the road series, putting up over 200 points for the first time this season. It seems like they put in some good work after the 1st progression window, can they keep it up?

4 – Lost City Racing – 62.302 (+2) –
Lotus 79 – 4th
Supercars – 2nd

Lost City Racing has been right there amongst the top teams in the Supercars series, but they sit in the middle of the pack in the Lotus series. As a team they have taken great advantage of the double race weeks in the Supercar Series which has helped them get to their 2nd place position in the standings.

5 – The Brew Crew – 72.625 (+2) –
Lotus 79 – 5th
Supercars – 6th

The Brew Crew have been a very up and down team this season in the Road Series. Unlike many of the other teams around them in the stnadings, their strong weeks have come from the Lotus series being on road courses. Overall though they sit in the middle of the standings with some ground to make up at the half way point.

6 – Sloth – 78.427 (-6) –
Lotus 79 – 6th
Supercars – 4th

Sloth Racing just put up their best week of the season, in large part due to their strong performance in the Supercar Series. However in the Lotus series they have struggled on the road courses while they have put up their best performances on the oval tracks. If they can start to even out that disparity then they could start making moves pretty quickly.

7 – Desperado – 104.604 (+5) –
Lotus 79 – 7th
Supercars – 7th

Desperado has had some interesting results here in the Road Series. When it comes to the road courses they have shown some struggles, however when the Lotus 79 series has taken to Ovals then Desperado has put up some big weeks. Can they start evening out the results though?

8 – NERD – 107.547 (-5) –
Lotus 79 – 8th
Supercars – 8th

The last couple of weeks have been a good sign for NERD, they got their first win of the season in Week 5 as Yodie Logic picked up a win in the Lotus Series. As a rookie team they are learning as they go and there are signs of good growth going forward in the Road Series, can they keep it up?
