Week 6 Clio Cup Deep Dive

Week 6 Clio Cup Deep Dive

By Rhett Sawyer

With the second quarter of the season in the books it’s time to take a look at how each series has taken shape

Clio Rankings

1 – NLR Legends – 45.000 (+0) Up 1

The second quarter of the season has been a bit rough for NLR Legends as they have gotten a bit more unlucky in qualifying than they would like. However they still sit on the top spot overall and they still won 2 of the last 3 weeks so they can’t feel like the sky is falling. They do need to get back to their form from the first 3 weeks though because LFR has been closing the gap recently.

2 – Low Fuel Racing – 49.063 (+5) Down 1

It’s been a back and forth fight between Low Fuel and NLR over the last 4 weeks. Low Fuel came out on top in weeks 3 and 5, they also have the highest single week scoring during those 4 weeks, and they have won 3 of the last 4 races. This matchup has been a dogfight so far and Low Fuel has been throwing haymakers lately, can they keep this pace up?

3 – The Brew Crew – 62.167 (-14) Up 2

The Brew Crew have been able to hold onto the top spot for the middle pack of teams fighting for 3rd, but consistency has not been their friend so far. There is still time for them to make a run for the top of the standings, but they need to start finding that consistency before the top 2 teams pull away too much.

4 – Lost City Racing – 64.500 (+5) Down 1

They looked like they were making some big strides in the Clio Cup, but a shaky Week 6 slowed down what looked to be a good stretch. They are right their in a battle for 3rd, but if they want to catch the top 2 teams then they need to start make some big gains.

5 – Delusions of Grandeur – 69.417 (+4) Up 1

They started a little slow at first, but they have gotten better each of the last 3 weeks after the first Progression window. Nelly Celly helped lead the way in this 2nd quarter of the season, if their other 2 drivers start to match his pace then watch out.

6 – Sloth Racing – 70.438 (-1) Down 2

Weeks 4 and 5 for Sloth gave them a good boost in the Power Rankings, in which they scored a season high in points. Week 6 though was a bit of a set back scoring less than 100 points again. For a Rookie team to still be fighting for 3rd in the series is still a good sign already, now they have to continue the progress they have shown to make up more ground going forward.

7 – NERD Racing – 105.469 (-1) Up 1

NERD has been on a nice run of form, scoring team highs in points over the last 2 weeks. Tyler Grimms has picked up 2 Top 4 finishes over that time period, which has been a good boost to a team that has struggled so far. Is this a sign of things to come as they get another chance to make some changes for the second time this season?

8 – Desperado Racing – 110.813 (+1) Down 1

The last 3 weeks have been a rough stretch for Desperado, only scoring 23 points during that time. This was a pretty steep drop off from their first 3 weeks, so hopefully they were able to make some changes in this 2nd progression window to turn things around.
